B2B Mobile Marketing: 8 Ways to Make Your Strategy a Success

You’re probably reading this on your smartphone or tablet, which just proves our point:

we live in a mobile society, and the only way to beat the competition is to join them.

What works for B2C mobile marketing can work for B2B, too. Here are 8 tips that will

help make it all happen:

 

1. Optimize, Optimize, Optimize

  • Design (or redesign) web pages that load quickly
  • Ditch graphics that drag
  • Clean up your code
  • Make sure you’re mobile friendly

If you want to be found through Google, do all those things. If you don’t know what

those things mean, hire someone who does.

 

2. Live it Up Via Video

By the end of 2016, 60 percent of all web traffic will come from mobile devices, and

video will account for 50 percent of that traffic. The power of video mobile marketing is

undeniably, and it gives you a method with which to repackage your brand and deliver

your message in an easily digestible, highly memorable format.

 

3. Stick With Social Media

Having a social media presence is great. Having a stale social media presence is not.

When it comes to Facebook, Twitter, etc., the old adage “build it and they will come” just

doesn’t work. Your profile has to be a continuous work in progress, with a frequently

updated feed that combines branded content with items curated from other high-quality

sources.

 

4. Length Matters

Once upon a time, 500 words was considered the perfect blog length, but then Google

fluffed its algorithms and blogs 1000 words and longer – jam-packed with high-quality

info, of course – became the norm. The truth is, you need a little of both; short-form

content satisfies readers who want down-and-dirty tips easily absorbed when they’re

just two people back in the line at the dry cleaners while others want to dig into an in-

depth look at how and when to delegate before they convene the weekly staff meeting.

 

5. Add Share Buttons

Everybody wants their content to go viral (who doesn’t love a little overnight success,

right?) but so few people give readers the tools necessary to complete a spontaneous

share-a-thon. Make sure each and every blog leads with (or ends with) plenty of social

share buttons, and throw in the ability to share via email and text (this is mobile

marketing, after all) for good measure.

 

6. Encourage SMS Subscription

Text is more likely to be opened than email, more direct than a phone call, and easy to

schedule – even using mass SMS – using a platforming such as Textpedite. It’s also

effective, with 66 percent of people saying that they’ve made a purchase as a direct result

of a text message they received.

 

7. Get Better at App Distribution

So you built an app. That’s an awesome first step, but if you fail to distribute it properly,

you might as well be selling a dusty Frogger cartridge from 1983 (although at least that

has vintage appeal). Learn the best techniques for mobile app distribution and you’ll

discover that apps aren’t just a way to make current customers happy, they also draw in

a whole new demographic that values hand-held convenience.

 

8. Think Local

In a recent survey, 88 percent of respondents said they searched for a local business on

their smartphone at least once a week, and 58 percent said they did so on a daily basis.

It makes sense that busy consumers would opt for solutions to their product- or service-

based needs based on which provider is closest to their current location – if your

restaurant’s toilet is overflowing, you don’t want just any plumber, you want a plumber

who can be there in 5 minutes. Incorporate local keywords into your content and you’ll

connect with these locally minded consumers.

If it seems like everyone is walking around armed with a smartphone, tablet, or both, it’s

because they are, and business owners are no exception. Find your consumers where
